Born in Guyana, the author earned his medical degree at Grant Medical College, Bombay, became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons, and later taught surgery and conducted research in the Caribbean—where he also pioneered a new inguinal hernia repair technique. He moved to the U.S. in the early 1970s, honoring his late wife through the dedication of a Jain temple and institute in Florida, and now leads a quiet life surrounded by family and friends.
